Over the years, Altrad RMD Kwikform has delivered a range of shoring and wall formwork solutions for the water utilities industry. These include the £200 million Ringsend wastewater treatment plant in Dublin Bay, the Nescliffe water treatment plant in Owestry, and a sewerage system in Abu Dhabi running from Mafraq to Khalifa City, to name just a few.

With a vast amount of experience in this sector, we can provide formwork and falsework systems for any type of structure needed for the water utilities market. This ranges from sequence batch reactors, concrete holding tanks, screw pump lifting stations, secondary setting tanks, buffer ponds, sludge lagoons and motor control centre towers in water treatment facilities, to casting diversion walls, intake towers, spillways and splitter teeth for dams.

What our customers think

“Altrad RMD Kwikform provided all the plans and drawings for the shutter work on the tanks. The result and quality of the finish has been nothing but outstanding.” Rod Reeves, Project Manager at Interserve Project Services Ltd

Factors to consider when specifying
a water utilities and wastewater plant construction project

  • Challenges such as great heights and circular shapes, coupled with supporting the pressure of thousands of cubic meters of concrete, mean early collaboration between the contractor and temporary works supplier is vital.
  • For wastewater treatment works, flood plains and high-water tables are a common occurrence. Complex terrains can be overcome, though, as you’ll see from our involvement in the Nescliffe water treatment plant.
  • Speed is a key requirement. Equipment enabling the construction of more than one tank for a wastewater treatment site simultaneously, or that can be easily dismantled and re-purposed for a range of on-site developments, can help.
  • At the pre-tender stage, our engineers can work with the project team to make recommendations on project structures, construction phases and potential challenges. This early involvement has been critical in helping win many tender bids.
  • Digital engineering capabilities can help contractors demonstrate the structural support that is being used during construction projects to clients and can play a pivotal role in showcasing how site challenges have been met.
