Safe and efficient formwork solutions to help with dam construction projects
The scale and engineering challenges of dam construction means contractors need a knowledgeable and experienced formwork specialist they can rely on. Factors such as lift height, loading conditions, cycle times and the frequency of concrete pours will all impact on the best system for the job. For instance, single-sided climbing formwork is often used in dam construction, as through ties are often not feasible due to the scale of the structure and obstructions from intake pipes and sluice gates.
One high-profile dam project we have supported is the Wadi Dayqah Dam in the Middle East. Our designers and engineers fabricated special components to meet the complex geometries involved in the creation of the curves needed for the spillways and splitter teeth. Timber and galvanised steel beams were also used to create both single-sided and double-sided formwork shutters, for the erection of different sections of the dam.
