Altrad RMD Kwikform is excited to announce the release of its latest white paper, focusing on the revolutionary new approach of using its tubular shoring system Tubeshor – traditionally used horizontally in excavations - as a vertical shoring system in above ground construction projects.

Large props are used on construction projects where an adjustable, load-bearing member is required, providing an economical method for supporting elements such as new or existing bridges, large steel or concrete construction elements, ship / off-shore platform structures, or plant pedestals.

Historically, vertical shoring systems have relied on multiple load-bearing strut members, that required to be handled and assembled individually, together with a substantial number of ledgers and diagonal braces that laterally restrain the struts against buckling. However, solutions have recently been developed to adapt props traditionally used horizontally in ground shoring applications for vertical use, offering a raft of benefits.

Ian Fryer, Global Product Innovation Director at Altrad RMD Kwikform, stated:

“Our new white paper delves into the subject of using ground shoring props, traditionally used horizontally, in a vertical application, showcasing our commitment to redefining construction possibilities by pushing the boundaries of conventional methodologies.

“By repurposing ground shoring props as vertical supports, we’re not only streamlining project logistics but also enabling safer and more efficient operations across sectors. Our innovative solutions, such as Tubeshor, are equipped with versatile accessories that empower construction teams to tackle complex challenges with greater flexibility and precision.”

The white paper discusses the benefits of using Tubeshor as a solution for vertical propping offering a detailed overview of the system and highlighting its design as an ideal choice due to its impressive load-bearing capability and adaptability.

It also explores Tubeshor’s range of versatile accessories, each engineered to enhance the efficiency and safety of vertical propping operations. These include Hydraulic Ram-Lock Units, Spherical Bearers, Swivel Units and Flat Jacks - each providing unique functionalities that further optimise Tubeshor’s performance across diverse construction environments.

The paper then examines specific applications where Tubeshor is particularly effective as a solution for vertical propping, serving as a reliable and adaptable alternative to traditional heavy-duty support methods.

Finally, the white paper showcases Altrad RMD Kwikform’s expertise through notable projects that exemplify Tubeshor's effectiveness, including its deployment at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, UK, and the Al Shindagha Corridor project in Dubai.
